MY FIRST VISIT TO THE ALBION COUNTER
I came across ALBION on some Taiwanese beauty bloggers’ sites and beauty sites, its Skin Conditioner was given quite good reviews. I had seen it sold on Adambeauty.com. Back then, it was not available in SG hence I did not want to risk purchasing online without testing it out. Couple of months ago, I was chatting with my colleague on skincare products, it was then I realized that ALBION was in SG – one and only retail counter at Takashimaya!
Coincidentally prior to my visit to the counter, I had really dry skin, my usual cream isn’t really working for me, I need something stronger. I told the pleasant SA that I wanted moisturizer because I can feel my skin stretching as I smiled. No kidding. I never had this feeling on my skin. Visually I can see the dry lines on my cheeks and around the mouth, my cheeks looked alittle saggy!!!!!! I wasn’t sure which lotion to purchase so the SA suggested to do a moisture level check on my skin so as to better recommend which lotion to use. A good moisture level reading should be between 120 and 150, and my reading? *Drums roll* 44! *Gasping with disbelief* Based on the chart on ALBION profiling card, I fell off the chart!! I knew my skin felt dry, but never did I expect it to be THIS DRY! I almost fainted and slammed my dehydrated face on the counter. Without any question asked, I bought home ALBION Skin Conditioner and EXAGE Moist Crystal Milk II, hoping they can do miracle on my oh-my-goodness highly dehydrated face.
ALBION’S UNIQUE 4-STEPS SKINCARE REGIME
1. Cleansing > 2. Softening (Milk lotion) > 3. Balancing (Lotion/Toner) > 4. Active Care (Serum/Cream)
Why ALBION’s Milk Lotion is used on fresh cleansed skin? Quoted from their brochure, “The most important component required by fresh skin immediately after cleansing is the moisture that skin normally has. ALBION’s Milk Lotion contains the moisture, oil content and moisturising factor in the ideal balance, closely mimicking the moisture in the corneal layer“.
Based on the instructions on their official websites and brochures, 3 pumps of milk lotion on their fluffy puffy cotton pad. Apply onto face, spread and massage, make sure everything is being absorbed. Then soak up cotton pad with their signature Skin Conditioner, lightly pat onto the skin. I diligently used their Milk Lotion II and Skin Conditioner as per instructions. However, just 2 days of usage – day and night, I broke out in small clogged pores on my chin. I was determined hence continued for a week. In between the week, I saw whiteheads oozing out from my chin and nose. It was painful whenever I used the lotion with the cotton pad on my skin, I was sure there was some kinda abrasion going on. It was bad and so I stopped for two weeks.
Skin got better after two weeks break from ALBION products but since my skin was really dehydrated, I decided to give them a try again. But this time, only once in the morning, and I worked it according to my usual regime and local weather. Instead of the generous 3 pumps, I used only one pump. That’s because no matter how hard I tried previously, I just can’t massage the 3 pumps of milk lotion in! I’ll end up with the lotion sitting on top of my skin and I figured that’s probably why I broke out from it. Please bare in mind that Singapore is a humid country. Since I have a habit to wipe my face with a wet towel after my shower, so I guess my skin doesn’t need another wiping down with the cotton pad. Apparently, the action of applying the milk lotion with the cotton pad is to also remove any dirt and residue leftover on the skin. Therefore, I used my hand to massage their milk lotion in. Very quickly, the milk lotion got adsorbed in! Immediately my skin looked supple! Lastly, I patted on their Skin Conditioner, which made my skin looked radiance!
The reason why it took me so long to write this review is because I want to use it alittle longer and have my skin tested again at the ALBION counter. So… I did. The following is a photo of my profiling card. See the moisture level reading? It went up! Sadly, so is the oil level, but really, I’m perfectly fine with it. The SA suggested that I use less of the Milk Lotion on my T-zone.
